It's just like riding a bike...

Me and Roxy

The time has come for me to get up off my booty and start pumping my body weight to work through the use of my pretty purple bicycle Roxanne, lovingly referred to as Roxy. Hopefully this will mean less trips to the gas station and stronger thigh muscles. (As of right now they are pitiful and weak!) The Lord confirmed it to me through a fortune cookie, as is how he often communicates with me, that the choice I have made is a good one.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

THE HULK

Don't let Ang Lee's poor excuse of a film prevent you from seeing Marvel Comic's new and improved version of the Hulk. I loved it!There was a guest appearance by Tony Stark in the end which means that they are preparing for the big film "The Avengers" in 2011. I'm looking forward to it! Ed Norton and Liv Tyler exceeded expectations and overall I give this movie several thumbs up!

Faces of England

Thanks to all of you who came to support me in the art show Faces of England. Christian Smith, who was a student in the last Study Abroad trip to England, wanted to put together an art show. He asked me, Greg Steele and Carly Cowser (other study abroaders) to contribute. We all agreed and submitted five to six pieces each. We were able to display the show in the B.F. Larsen Gallery in the Harris Fine Arts Center on BYU Campus. A great time was had by all and it was a real learning experience for me. I was able to do my own matting, wire hanging and displaying of the pieces. Turned out really well. Thanks again for all of your support!

Me with some people I know and don't know

Lizzy just loved the feeling of smooth marble on her body!

Here is the Artists' Statement:
Christian Smith, Katy Taylor, Carly Cowser, and Greg Steele studied in the United Kingdom for four months in the fall of 2007. Though their work features a variety of styles, together they capture some of the faces England has to offer. The subjects of these photographs range from well-known English icons to scenic landscapes and undiscovered city streets. See the United Kingdom through the lenses of four different photographers each with their own unique perspectives.

Iron Man

I LOVED this movie! I was so surprised by Robert Downey Jr.'s performance. My delight in this movie may arise from the fact that I had NO expectations whatsoever before seeing this film. I had never heard of iron man and so I was most pleased with this Marvel Comic film. I think it is the perfect solution to the chick flick and macho action film. There is something for everyone, humor, romance, and plenty of sweet awesome action! To me, it's a must see! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

Indiana Jones Review

Indiana Jones

Perhaps I am not the best person to review this movie because I have not seen the previous three all the way through (GASP!!) however, as a movie goer, I was disappointed with this film. I realize that Lucas Films have license to be cheesy, but I feel like this is no excuse for poor writing and poor acting. The visual effects were lame and low budget, the story was slightly bizarre and far fetched (but that wouldn't even bother me had it been pulled off correctly). Watching poor Harrison Ford try to be Indiana was painful, meaning, he looked like he was in a lot of pain while running and jumping and swinging from his whip. I felt like I was watching my own father trying to be an action hero... My advice, for those who wish to see it, wait till it comes to a cheaper theater and don't have too high of expectations.

It took me a long time and I really hope you all make some excellent comments so that I feel validated in all the time I spent creating! Happy blogging!I'm off to bed!

An Evening with the Wieses

I went to Salt Lake on Saturday and joined Anna, Rob and the chillins, plus Cumma Kwatz at the museum of art. A good time was had by all and if you want to see the pictures, check out Courtney's blog. After the museum, Courtney and I went back to her place to hang out. I talked the whole time, until seven at night! Then we proceeded to make dinner, chicken alfredo, with rotisserie chicken. I was in charge of the sauce which ended up not thickening. I thought I had blown dinner. Todd came home and had another go with the sauce only to discover that it wouldn't thicken for him either. It was discovered that the reason for the soupy sauce was the use of half and half and not whole cream. So we ended up having a soupy sauce that tasted delicious anyway!

Sad day, I've ruined dinner!

The soupy sauce

After dinner, Courtney made some delicious double chocolate brownies that were so ono! We also watched the first two episodes of Lost so I am properly hooked now. One more show to add to the list... oh dear!

During the course of the evening, the earth got confused and decided to revert back to it's winter tendencies instead of fully embracing the spring! Consequently I had to drive home in the snow storm and thought I was going to die several times due to restricted vision and crazy drivers on the freeway. There were several trucks that passed me that splashed snowy slush all over my windshield making it IMPOSSIBLE to see out of the car for at least four seconds while driving at fifty miles per hour. I ended up taking the slow lane home, hardly exceeding forty-five mph and arrived in one piece after several heart felt prayers. I had to pry my fingers out of their death grip on the steering wheel, but here I am now. I wish I weren't such a grandma driver!

Lord of the Rings Soundtrack

It finally came!

I ordered the Lord of the Rings the Musical Soundtrack and I must say it is wonderful!
I don't know how to upload songs, but I would like to share my favorite one with all of you!
Could someone please tell me how to do this?

A Walk to Remember

A Walk to Remember

It was a beautiful Sunday evening so we decided to go for a walk.

We were walking and walking...

We walked past a new house that was large, daunting and scary!

Then we walked past a familiar home

And that's when disaster struck. Winnie dropped a poop right in front of the Hatch's yard and there we were without a plastic bag. So Dickie found a nice stick and leaf and tried to scoop it up... he unfortunately got some doo doo on his glove! Sick man!

But the walk continued anyway despite the unpleasantness of the poop. We walked past the church, I tried to be as reverent as I could.

While we were coming around the corner, Winnie dropped another poop, but this time didn't get her bum clean. She walked right in front of me and rubbed her bum on the hem of my jeans! I just finished doing laundry for the week and these were clean pants! I was not so happy or pleased with winnie at that time.

Finally we made it home, both having been got by the poop meister. All in all it was a nice and pretty walk... maybe next time we'll bring some baggies and baby wipes for winnie.

A Lecture on Food

On Friday evening, Anna, Dad and I went to Michael Pollan's lecture on food and nutrionism. It was very interesting and has made me quite anxious about eating "food" from grocery stores. I really love what he has to say and I am looking forward to reading his books.

Sorry I can't get the pictures to go upright! I didn't bring my camera, so I used the one in my cell phone instead. Consequently they are a little blurry and sideways.

We were running late, so we had to run to the venue through temple square.

I stopped to take some pictures...

And I made Dad and Anna stop for some pictures...

And then there was more running...

Until we finally made it there. We had to wait in line for our will call tickets, but they started late anyway... so we had a nice jog and were readst to go and on time for the lecture.

The cool Chihuly glass inside

Right before we went in...

This is the view from our seats. It was a lot of fun and I'd do it all over again any day! Thanks for orchestrating that Anna! And I'll never touch a twinkie again!
