Doppelganger

I'll admit that I gave into the facebook trend of trying to find my own doppelganger or famous look-alike. While discovering that I resemble asian men and women, I also found out that I look like Dennis Quade. Lucy Lawless was repeated several times in my picture scans and so I give you, my own doppelganger...

A doppelganger is the ghostly double of a living person, a sinister form of bilocation. In the vernacular, the word "doppelganger" has come to refer (as in German) to any double or look-alike of a person. The word is also used to describe the sensation of having glimpsed at oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection. They are generally regarded as harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelganger seen by a person's friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one's own doppelganger is an omen of death. In Norse mythology, a vardoger is a ghostly double who precedes a living person and is seen performing their actions in advance.

I think I'm a combination of the two which is awesome cause then I'm like a double threat! If I can't be a maiden of Rohan, a warrior princess is a close second!

Putting Christmas Away

I flew to Houston right after New Years to help put Christmas decorations away. Alison and I found ways to make it more exciting and then treated ourselves to a well deserved outing to the movies.

It was cold and the only thing I could find, because I didn't come prepared, was a Santa Suit in the car...

The Vegas

I believe it was in October that Alison, Zach & Lyndi Perry, and I headed to the U2 concert in Las Vegas Nevada. A good time was had by all! I was reminded that that Vegas is truly glamorized in movies but the reality is, the streets are dirty with vomit, porn, sweaty masses of people and who knows what else, everyone is wasted on the streets, and there's no fresh air anywhere! Alison and I found refuge at a new shopping center where we made the most of the day by shopping our hearts out! The concert was fun, Black Eyed Peas opened and then U2 put on a great show! I really like road trips but don't really need to vacation in Vegas ever again...

The hotel

Our hotel was really close to the concert's location!

Northwestern Mutual

I worked for Northwestern Mutual from August to December of 2009. While it was short lived I learned a lot and am very grateful for the experience. I met some wonderful people who I will be friends with forever and learned from some great managers. My decision to leave was made easier when my boss Jim moved to Portland Oregon. I just needed a change of scenery and so I bid farewell. Thanks to all the employees that made it a great experience!

Farewell to Presidio

Presidio means prison in portuguese, but my apartment with Carrie never felt like a prison to me. There were times when I thought the neighbors were annoying, and there were instances when I wished I weren't surrounded by single students, but my days at the Presidio were full of joy and happiness. This post is a tribute to my semester and a half in that blessed penitentiary.

Our First FHE activity, eating ice-cream with strange kitchen utensils.

Yummy!

My room-mate Amy LOVES Valentines Day, so she made breakfast for some friends and decorated the apartment.

Making pink heart shaped pancakes.

My bedroom after Carrie had already moved out... so depressing.

The bathroom where the magic happened

The toilet and shower where the business happened

The courtyard where I would often come home to lovers serenading each other, and awkward door step scenes... sigh...

The living room where the movie watching happened

The kitchen where nothing happened

The honor code approved half bathroom

Cleaning up before the big move

And some silly faces just for good measure

Carrie, I will miss you as a room mate, but I know that you and Grant will have just as much fun. I only hope he will have opposite day conversations at one in the morning with you and listen to Lord of the Rings as you fall asleep.
